Library service targets teens with MTV commercial.
QandANJ.org commercial to debut during MTV Video Music Awards

Gibbsboro, NJ. (August 29, 2007) — QandANJ.org, New Jersey's 24/7 free, web-based question answering service staffed by librarians across the state, will debut its first television commercial on September 9th during the MTV Video Music Awards, airing in all New Jersey markets.

QandANJ.org has been one of the busiest services of its kind since it launched in 2001, answering questions of all types from New Jersey residents any time of the day or night. "Fifty percent of our questions come from students, so it just made sense to put QandANJ.org in a place where teens would see it. Why not MTV during the MTV Video Music Awards?”, said Beth Cackowski, QandANJ.org's Project Coordinator.

QandANJ.org is a free online library service that allows users to chat live with a librarian for help with research projects, homework, or general questions ranging from health to business, DIY to trivia. The service is available to all New Jersey residents, and is heavily used and valued by teens.

"We know teens love the service" says Cackowski, "because we receive thousands of customer comments every year, and they tell us things like: ‘I luv this site—it’s amazing!’ and ‘The [QandANJ.org] librarians are the best! Thanks for your help! My homework is finished!’”

QandANJ.org is supported by the New Jersey State Library, managed by South Jersey Regional Library Cooperative, staffed my member libraries in the New Jersey Library Network and funded by the Institute of Museum and Library Services, an independent federal agency whose mission is to create strong libraries and museums that connect people to information and ideas.
